DEATH Claims a Soul Whose Mortal Life Was Darkened for Forty-eight Long Years Blinded by Disease when Seven Years of Age Mrs Lydia Close Lived tot he Age of Fifty-five Years. Yesterday morning at 7 o'clock, at the home of Mr and Mrs J L Kemper, 542 south Elizabeth street, Mrs Lydia Close, daughter f Mr and Mrs John Cameron and wife of George Close, passed from mortal life after an illness of 7 months duration, death resulting from consumption. The deceased was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, and lived to the age of 55 years. When 7 years of age, her eyesight was destroyed by illness and she remained blind throughout the remainder of her life. Her busband, who survives her is also blind. Mrs Kemper, at whose home the death occurred, is a sister of the deceased. Funeral services were held from the Kemper residence at 1 o'clock this afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev W H Leatherman, pastor of Grace M E church, and the remains were laid to rest in Woodlawn cemetery.
